Our Mission
Our mission is to host, fund and support positive, memorable outdoor experiences that inspire active engagement between youth and nature.
By partnering with parents, local businesses, schools and charities with like-minded goals and objectives, we can create a system of support that will open the doors for parents and kids to get outside for free.
-
Create a replicable system that provides the opportunity for parents and kids to go outside.
Create a funding mechanism that supports other like-minded organizations.
-
Outcomes are based on the number of participants we can help to provide with a positive, memorable experience in the outdoors.
That can be a number of things based on “breaking the barriers to entry.” Examples of potential wins:
Providing kids with rain gear that allows them to enjoy the local park/playground year-round
Funding a group backpacking trip for teenagers down the Lost Coast trail through Adventure’s Edge guide service
Creating a five-day outdoor camp free of charge that teaches kids general outdoor survival skills, camping, hiking skills and hunter safety
Programs
Here are examples of the kind of positive, memorable outdoor experiences that the Outdoor Heritage Foundation is working to host, fund and support:
-
Help parents find and fund an outdoor trip with their kids, partnering with local guides and/or outdoor businesses to help them book an adventure and gather the funds and gear they need. Connect families who want similar experiences.
-
Support land conservation efforts to preserve public land use for outdoor recreational activities.
Secure acreage that can be used for outdoor camps.
Get kids and adults engaged with local farms, land management and conservation efforts.
It’s about getting outside and engaging with the world around us. That could look like: helping a rancher move pipes or haul hay; assisting with branding cattle, shearing sheep or putting up a new fence; or cutting a cord of wood for an elderly couple.
-
A fitness program that promotes healthy habits and exercise to enjoy the outdoors safely.
Partner with local gyms to engage youth and incentivize them to exercise.
Use the facility and other outdoor acreages to host outdoor activities that focus around health and wellness.
-
Hunting/fishing
Camping/backpacking
Outdoor youth camp/hunter safety course
Other recreational activities (horseback riding, mountain biking, etc.)
